Director of Philanthropy, Data and Analytics

Summary

The Director of Philanthropy, Data and Analytics is a leader in philanthropic data integrity, data analysis and data strategy for the organization. The Director oversees and manages the organization’s Raiser’s Edge NXT database. Other platforms under the Director’s purview include, but are not limited to iWave, Asana, Classy, Omatic, and WealthEngine. The Director manages a large, proprietary database of more than 600,000 donor records and ensures data and system integrity by developing and implementing clear policies and procedures throughout the data management process. The Director provides timely donor reports, dashboards, gift summaries and other pertinent reports to the Philanthropy team, Chief Philanthropy Officer, CEO/Leadership team, and works closely with the Finance department to ensure balance between the Philanthropy database and financials.

 Essential Functions

• Recruit and recommend candidates for hire and/or hire and manage a minimum of three positions relevant to data processing, coordination and front office duties 
• Conduct training; assign tasks and monitor work performance; write and deliver performance appraisals; recommend salary actions; recommend and administer disciplinary action; recommend termination of employees and engage and retain a high-performing, accountable workforce
• Lead all operations and functions for a donor database of more than 600,000 records using Raiser’s Edge NXT, Classy, Asana, and Omatic. Make recommendations for streamlining, improvements, or use of additional databases/software 
• Lead all gift processing procedures and ensure accurate and effective operations, including monthly and annual fundraising revenue reconciliation with the Finance department
• Work closely with Sr. Director of Philanthropy for Core Programs and fundraisers as they manage their donor portfolios, synthesizing large data sets into digestible takeaways to drive action, implement best practices in moves management, and maximize fundraising impact
• Lead data mining and reporting strategies for Raiser’s Edge NXT (and other systems/tools) to determine and assess donor giving motivations, behaviors, and trends to help advance development and institutional goals for growth
• Design, produce, and present timely and pertinent reports on data analytics to Philanthropy team members, senior staff, and other FJV colleagues as appropriate and upon request
• Create high level custom queries and dashboards to track fundraising results or projections.
• Develop and deliver training to ensure adherence to protocols and standards, and consistency with record management
• Lead and manage all development database functions and procedures related to donor records, data definitions and protocols, data security measures, constituent data pulls and address lists, and other essential philanthropy functions
• Oversee the execution of all monthly giving programs and online giving vehicles
• Work closely with members of Philanthropy Team on other special fundraising projects such as event registrations for annual gala and Thanksgiving 5K
• Collaborate with Grants team to ensure proper recording and reporting of private grants in Raiser’s Edge NXT; create relevant dashboards and reports to track progress
• On time completion of assigned training and policies
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Data Analysis, Business or equivalent experience
• At least 5-7 years of donor database management experience, preferably Blackbaud products
• Experience with online fundraising tools and software such as Classy and Omatic preferred, or similar fundraising software
• At least 1 year of leadership experience to include training, performance management, counseling and retaining an engaged and accountable workforce.
• Intermediate to advanced user of MS Office
• Be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience; possesses a California driver’s license; and has no Class 1 or more than Class 2 violations with the past 36 months.
• Participate in annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary.
