JOB SUMMARY:
The Dish Room Floater takes pride in providing excellent customer service and an enjoyable experience at our thrift store. At St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho, our thrift stores help fund our social services – including our emergency shelters, Father Bill’s Kitchen, and free shower and laundry facilities. You will play an important role by accepting, processing, and retailing donated goods to support our mission to provide direction and services supporting individuals and families in North Idaho needing assistance to enrich, fortify, and rebuild their lives with dignity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sort glassware as it comes in
- Box holiday items according to season
- Sort and price books
- Use POS equipment as needed to conduct merchandise transactions, ensuring accuracy.
- Maintain merchandising and cleanliness standards of the sales floor.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting all donors, assisting if needed with the loading and unloading of goods in a timely and courteous manner, and thanking customers for their generosity and patronage. Ensure a donation receipt is provided, as requested.
- Follow and ensure all safety rules are complied with and appropriate safety equipment is used.
- Assist with the organization of donations to be sorted, keeping the donation work area clean and safe of debris.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to bend, lift 50 lbs, and stand on feet for long periods of time
- Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Must have good customer service skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, heavy work (exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally), reading detail work confidently, confidentiality, problem solving, training, math, reasoning, verbal communications, written communication, effective listening, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, interruptions.
