Position Summary :
The Wellness Coordinator within SVdP’s Interim Housing Communities is responsible for bringing in volunteers, partners, and programs in order to provide a safe space for physical, mental, and emotional well-being for its residents.
The WC oversees the day-to-day programmatic events and activities for residents and liaises with volunteers in order to enhance the resident experience and provide opportunities for healing from the trauma of homelessness. The WC must be a compassionate and patient communicator and collaborator, while also driven to accomplish concrete goals, connecting the details to the big vision. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and enthusiastic. This representative must be energetic, resourceful, and reliable with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with vulnerable populations.
Specific Duties :
- Develops and coordinates educational and social programming for residents, including outreaching and recruiting speakers and organizing activities.
- Plans and coordinates special event programming for residents, such as holiday parties and other celebrations.
- Oversees and supports all volunteer activities for Washington Street. This includes providing support and instructions to outside volunteers and groups providing volunteer service to Washington Street, coordinating resident volunteer activities within SVDP, and acting as the Washington Street liaison with the Community Engagement and Volunteer Operations departments.
- Facilitates Good Neighbor (conflict resolution) groups weekly and oversees implementation of the Good Neighbor program.
- Facilitates Community Council meetings monthly and supports flow of information to and from the community.
- Supports community focus and interpersonal skills for residents through building relationships with them.
- Supports the day-to-day activities of the program by assisting with transporting residents to appointments as appropriate, welcoming and settling new residents, assisting with move outs, and completing rounds of the building to offer assistance to residents.
- Provides cleanliness checks on bed areas. Provide coaching and independent living skill assistance when needed.
- Communicates activities and concerns to case management team through daily written briefings.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and agency events as requested or required.
- Other duties as identified by supervisor.
- Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy and ensure that SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated.
Requirements : Excellent communication, organization skills, and ability to interact with and a variety of guests, staff, donors, and volunteers. Experience with technology, including all Microsoft Suite programs is a necessity.
ADA Requirements : Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate orally and in writing required. Abilities to stand and walk, lift up to 50 pounds, sit, bend, and reach are required for this position. Accommodations may be made available if need is expressed.
