What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lacrosse Coach position at St. Vincent Ferrer High School?
We currently have one coaching position available: Head Coach, for our Varsity Lacrosse Team. We are part of the Catholic High School Athletic Association. Not only are we looking for someone who knows the sport well enough to coach it, but also someone who is responsible, dedicated, and committed. We are also looking for someone who:
- enjoys working with accomplished athletes as well as those with little or no lacrosse experience.
- is committed to nurturing athletes in a supportive environment that supports goal setting, perseverance, and a love for the sport.
Responsibilities
- Coach and instruct athletes, both individually and in groups, using appropriate softball developmental instruction
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.
- Assist the Directors of Athletics with organizing and supervising athletes in connection with practices and games as well as any other school function and/or activities that involves their sports team.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Lead and/or assist in practices.
- Accompany, attend, and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions.
- Attend meetings that are related to their sport.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with athletes, families and guests of St. Vincent Ferrer High school.
- Support the safety of all members, guests and employees.
- Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of coaching experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
- Collegiate playing experience is a plus.
- General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Knowledge of Girls Lacrosse Rules.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Great communication skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Background check required.
- Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.
Additional Information:
- The Lacrosse season begins the first week of March and ends roughly around mid-May.
School Location:
St. Vincent Ferrer High School is an all-girls school, and is located on East 65th Street/Lexington Avenue.
