Job Description

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Job Specialty : CVOR

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day 4x10 Hr

Guaranteed Hours : 40

Experience : 2 years of Surgical Tech experience, including 1 year of CVOR scrubbing experience. Must have at least 1 year of cardiovascular experience as a Surgical Tech.

License : None specified

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association

Must-Have :

High school diploma or GED
Graduation from a formal, accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent military training

Job Description :

Perform scrub duties and maintain sterile supplies and sterile techniques.

Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.

Assemble, organize, and complete case carts according to doctors' preference lists.

Provide appropriate instrumentation, suture, and all supplies as requested and maintain a sterile environment.

Assist the surgeon by passing instruments during cases.

Count sponges, needles, blades, and instruments using proper technique and established policy.

Assist in the maintenance and care of specimens and prepare them for laboratory analysis.

Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps following established policy and recommended standards of practice.

Assist with the timely turnover of rooms, including cleanup, replacement, and restocking of supplies and equipment.

Care for instruments and equipment.

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and adhere to service behavior standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.

May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Preferred Experience :

1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.

Preferred Education : None specified

Languages : Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
