Hartford Hospital

Our current Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) opening is with Hartford Hospital, one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.

Overview

Under the clinical supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant administers Occupational Therapy treatments to patients. Provides assistance to the Occupational Therapist by supplying objective measures to be utilized by the Occupational Therapist in evaluation of patient's level of function and determination of treatment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing techniques and skills as appropriate for the patient population
  • Documents treatment interventions
  • May coordinate activities of rehab aides, students and other support personnel
  • Communicates/documents information relevant to patient care to ensure effective, efficient delivery of quality service, and maximum reimbursement for services
  • Demonstrates efficient utilization of products, supplies, equipment and time to ensure the timely completion of duties and promote the smooth operation of the department. Meets productivity targets
  • Actively employs established safety precautions and procedures in performance of job responsibilities in order to ensure a safe environment for patients, guests and co-workers

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program from an accredited school, Associates degree required.
  • Connecticut registration required
  • Strong communication skills
