What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director of Campus Ministry position at St. Xavier High School?
Description: The Associate Director of Campus Ministry reports to and collaborates with the Director of Ministry to help students, faculty, and staff deepen their relationship with Jesus and better understand their call to use their gifts and talents to build a more just world as persons for and with others.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides a pastoral presence and living witness to the Gospel for the St. Xavier community.
- Intentionally accompanies students in their daily lives of Christian discipleship and supports students from other faith traditions in their religious journeys.
- Collaborates with other members of the department and with the student ministry team on mission and ministry visioning and programming, including, but not limited to, school liturgies, daily Examens, and initiatives specific to liturgical seasons.
- Participates in the ongoing discernment of the Campus Ministry Department regarding the various ministry needs of our community and which department members’ gifts are best suited to meet them.
- Plans and executes student retreats including, but not limited to, recruiting and training student leaders and faculty/staff chaperones, coordinating transportation and logistics with retreat venues, personally directing some retreats, and evaluating retreats.
- Helps develop a climate of hospitality in the department office for students, faculty, and staff who visit throughout the day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Person of integrity with a strong Christian spiritual life, familiarity with Ignatian spirituality, and commitment to Jesuit education
- Practicing Catholic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to teach courses in an academic department is a plus
