Summary
The Cheerleading Head Coach is responsible for organizing and executing the cheer program at Saint Xavier High School. The Cheerleading Head Coach is responsible for guiding and developing the cheerleading squad to promote school spirit and support for the school’s athletic teams. This is a part-time, stipend role with practices and games occurring outside of regular school hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly communicate with the Assistant Director of Athletics and communicate with the Executive Director of Athletics as needed.
- Supervise and direct the assistant cheerleading coach(es).
- Schedule and host cheerleading tryouts, communicate season rules, tryout criteria, and schedules, and provide details on selection notifications.
- Plan and schedule dates for information meetings for parents and student-athletes to communicate team conduct and uniform expectations, schedules, and other key details for the season.
- Manage and track the cheerleading budget to ensure all expenses are accounted for and funds are allocated appropriately for uniforms, gear, events, and other program needs.
- Plan and choregraph routines.
- Effectively teach cheerleading techniques while ensuring a safe practice environment.
- Attend and supervise cheerleaders at designated football and basketball games (home and away).
- Arrange bus transportation with the Administrative Assistant for Athletics for travel to away games.
- Respond to parent questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a cheerleading coach or assistant coach.
- Proven ability to coach, teach, and motivate athletes.
- Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, stunts, choreography, and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and parents.
- Willingness and availability to work football and basketball contests (home and away).
