St. Otto's Care Center covers the (cost 100%) of you going through the CNA course as well as taking the exam.
Job Summary : The OJT CNA is responsible for assisting licensed nurses and certified nursing aides in the delivery of resident care through the use of teamwork and communication. Under the direction of the nurse the OJT CNA completes tasks that are beneficial to the resident while supporting the staff so medical related cares can be managed.
Job Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commitment to scheduled work hours with expectation of obtaining Certification to become Nursing Aide
- Experience working and communicating with seniors
- Completion of on-site orientation program will be given to obtain desired entry level
- Work effectively with general supervision, ability to organize and manage own work load in a busy Some independent actions are required.

DUTIES:
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
- Assist other department in planning/coordinating and hosting activities that bring the
community to the facility (I.e. family picnic, parties, community coffee, Community Service Programs, Entertainment, Community Groups, Newsletters, Volunteer Program)
- Maintains good relations with residents, family members, community guests, team members
- Provides effective communication with other individuals (i.e. courtesy when answering the phones, assists visitors, guests and residents in finding their way around the building, does not gossip about, degrade or tarnish the reputation of the facility or any fellow team member)
RESIDENTS
- Reports Vulnerable Adult issues to their director supervisor as
- Visits with residents routinely regarding cares, activities, menus, likes and dislikes
- Offers resolution or a visit from the appropriate individual who may offer resolution to any dislikes or concerns and communicates those with direct
- Ensures any grievance is documented and reported to either supervising RN or Director or Nursing.
- Incorporates customer orientated approach into daily
- Maintains resident’s confidentiality and respect according to HIPPA and Resident
OPERATIONS
- Follows the resident’s specific plan of care to ensure highest level of health, safety and
- Follows and adheres to Residents Rights
- Responsible for meeting the needs and comfort of residents – treatment in accordance with policies and
- Check that resident’s personal items are labeled and stored properly
- Observe for Environmental cleanliness, pick up and discard any loose garbage, clean and tidy up residents rooms, wheel chairs, walkers or other areas as necessary throughout the work Including disinfecting when necessary/scheduled.
- Follow proper Infection control policy and procedure
- Answer Call lights timely with courtesy and respect, knocking before entering the room and introducing self to the resident and/or family/guests in the
- When unable to fulfill resident request due to out of scope of practice, notify attending aide or nurse of request leaving call light on.
- Ensure Dignity and privacy is maintained while providing service to the residents
- Assists with Resident’s hands washed before each meal
- Develops a good working relationship with the facility LPNs, RNs, and fellow team members.
- Follow safety procedures, policies and manufactures instructions applicable to assigned
- Responsible for prevention of unsafe work
- Attends training and in-service
- Serves meals & snacks to residents when requested
- Assists with set up of meals in dining room.
- Assist in dining rooms as requested.
- Collects dishes in dining room after
- Transport residents to and from dining rooms, activities and appointments as needed.
- Make beds
- Clean tub-rooms
- Stock supplies in supply cabinets and resident rooms
- Places soiled laundry in dirty hoppers, transfers to laundering area for
- Joins resident during an outing when (i.e. appointment, group activities)
- Completes house hold tasks; per task list assigned to each
- Completes other duties as designated
BUDGET
- Monitors use of supplies and attempts to minimize waste as much as
- Monitors self, completes work accordingly and is mindful of punctuality avoiding unnecessary/unapproved over-time.
- Participate in the control of cost-effective services that include proper use of equipment, appropriate use of supplies, and effective, efficient organization of resident care
BUILDING, GROUNDS, and EQUIPMENT
- Responsible for the building; cleanliness, repairs, replacement of fixtures and equipment; submit requests to Maintenance Department in a timely fashion to request any repair or maintenances.
- Aware of disaster plans for the facility and participates in these plans and procedures during drills or actual
