Ophthalmic Device Development
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our team at STAAR Surgical. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and transferring new ophthalmic devices from concept to manufacturing.
Your primary focus will be on providing input to product conceptualization and design, as well as conducting feasibility testing. You will also be responsible for documenting your work in laboratory notebooks and Technical Reports.
In addition to these duties, you will develop product specifications, manufacturing methods, and procedures, conduct test protocols, verification and validation activities, and equipment qualifications. You will also prepare test protocols and reports, verification and validation reports, and equipment qualification protocols.
Required Skills
To be successful in this role, you should have a B.S. in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering and relevant industrial experience. Experience with medical device sector, preferably in ophthalmology, is required.
Knowledge of Design Control procedures and Quality systems is also preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and transferring new products is highly desirable.
Desired Skills
You should possess independent thinking skills to solve engineering problems. A strong background in engineering techniques and methodologies is essential.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role. Knowledge of and ability to follow Design Control requirements is critical.
Knowledge of validation and verification techniques is also required. A working knowledge of Solidworks is preferred.
This person should be a self-starter who works well with others and has good communication and organizational skills.
