IT Support Technician – Tier 1 - Internship
STACK Cybersecurity is a full-service IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) as well as a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) We are an IT consulting company that provides ongoing support and management of customer network environments, workstations, and servers with an emphasis on cybersecurity-forward solutions.
We are currently seeking motivated, driven Technical Support students for a full-time or part-time Internship or possible mentorship as IT Support Technician – Tier 1. A Tier 1 Technician is responsible for providing technical support for desktop environments. This internship will include experience with Windows workstations, servers, printers, and vendor-specific hardware and software. The position requires daily customer interaction and documentation of efforts. Qualified candidates will also be introduced to several cybersecurity practices and will have an opportunity to participate and learn to investigate and resolve cybersecurity incidents. This includes experience with Security Information and Event Managment (SIEM) tools, Secure Access Service (SASE) networking and policy management. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Managed Extended Detection and Response (MXDR) as well as interfacing with a SOC and analyzing alert findings.
Qualified candidates must be diligent self-starters, highly motivated, driven and competent with computers. Ideal candidates have excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to effectively learn new technologies, applications and processes as they are taught. Responsibilities:
- IT Support relating to common technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Application support, including installing, configuring, migrating, and troubleshooting applications and third-party line of business applications
- Malware, spam, and antivirus support on desktops and remediation of Cybersecurity issues when applicable
- Security Information Event Log Monitoring and Investigation: SIEM
- Threat and Vulnerability Analysis: Conduct threat and vulnerability analysis to assess risks.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills when interacting with external clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Additional Responsibilities and Growth Opportunities:
Understanding of Cyber Threats: Familiarity with prevalent cyber threats, including malware, phishing attacks, DDoS attacks, BEC, lay-and-wait, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
- Stay updated on evolving threat landscape.
- Knowledge of Other Cybersecurity Tools: Familiarity with tools such as EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), MXDR (Managed XDR), SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), intrusion detection systems (IDS), and vulnerability scanners.
- Analysis Communication: Present security findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
