Director of Construction – Build to Suit Program

THE POSITION:
At STACK, the Director of Construction - Build to Suit, is responsible for leading construction activities for the Build to Suit program, including negotiating with contractors, consultants, and other vendors, managing schedules and budgets, optimizing costs through value engineering, and working with design, strategy and client teams, across the entire North American portfolio. The Director of Construction, Build to Suit, is also responsible for supporting the cross-functional, dedicated client team for the Build to Suit tenant. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large, complex Build to Suit construction projects and an ability to understand and align stakeholder interests.
In this role, you will:
• Lead Build to Suit construction efforts, including preliminary budgeting and scheduling, contractor and consultant selection, design management, construction phase budget and schedule management, financing coordination, and project completion and delivery
• Participate in leading client interactions, including acting as an escalation point for client issues, and developing proposals for new projects
• Interface with internal and external partners, including finance, strategy, design and engineering, sales, legal, tax, and consultative resources
• Manage a team of project management resources, with on the jobsite responsibilities
• Maintain strategic relationships with in-region stakeholders
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
• Four-year degree in a related field (Construction Mgmt, Engineering, Architecture) strongly preferred, but not required
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a construction related field
• Computer savvy and aptitude to learn programs and platforms (NetSuite, DocuSign, MS Project, PowerBI, Procore, etc.)
• Professional-level proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (also Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, Project) • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a construction related field

Other Details:
• Location: one of our major markets (NVA, POR, SVY, PHX, DFW, TOR, CHI); reasonable driving distance to the site.
• Onsite/WFH Expectations: onsite at job trailer or other STACK facility 2-3 days/wk, depending on business needs
• Domestic travel required; averaging 25%, but fluctuating on business requirements.
