ASAP Level II Liquid Penetrant Inspector
Job Description:
The Level II Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants and Level I Technicians. Level II Technicians organize, and report results of NDT.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Organize and report test results.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- May instruct and supervise others.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
- Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
- Perform PT Level II liquid penetrant inspection including application of penetrants and developers to identify defects.
- Determine whether parts pass or fail inspection based on knowledge of defect seriousness and industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
- Prepare necessary documentation of inspection process.
- Maintain Liquid Penetrant Level II certification
Qualifications:
- Level 2 in Penetrant Inspection
- 32-hour classroom training completed
- 400-hours OJT completed.
- Experience with Nadcap and aerospace specifications.
- Understand internal and external specification requirements that meet Nadcap, AS9100D, customer requirements, and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required documents and logs.
- Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance. Flexibility with schedule.
- Assists with upholding department 5S standards throughout the day and at the end of shift, including emptying trash and recycling bins and cleaning
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Follows paperwork flow, QA and Shop Floor policies and procedures
- Maintains neat, legible handwriting
This position will be for daytime schedule, Monday through Friday.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Preferred experience of three to six months in quality related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Quality Inspection experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Ability to observe details in order to accomplish tasks thoroughly and accurately.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
