Salary:Per Contract (12-month)

The Assistant Principal will play a critical role in supporting students, staff, and families by fostering a positive school climate, implementing instructional initiatives, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This position requires strong leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to equity and student achievement. The successful candidate will be an adaptive leader, willing to work through the diverse challenges that a middle school presents daily. They will be a key member of the leadership team, working closely with colleagues to achieve school goals. Collaboration is essential, and the Assistant Principal will be expected to honor commitments by completing individual tasks that contribute to the collective success of the team while remaining focused on long-term school improvement goals and managing daily school operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
●Massachusetts DESE Principal/Assistant Principal license
●Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
●Master’s Degree in Education or related field
●Minimum of five years of successful teaching or leadership experience
●Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum, instruction, and student development
●Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
●Experience in restorative practices, PBIS, or MTSS preferred
●Bilingual candidates preferred
●Equivalent qualifications and experience may be considered at the Superintendent’s discretion
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership:
●Support teachers and staff in effective instruction, curriculum development, and professional growth
●Use student performance data to guide instructional improvements and interventions
●Lead professional development and oversee the supervision & evaluation of assigned staff
●Provide actionable feedback to staff members to improve student outcomes
●Facilitate meetings using the DataWise framework
School Climate & Culture:
●Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment through strong relationships
●Upholding the school’s core values; Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful
●Implement and oversee restorative justice, PBIS, and student intervention strategies
●Support student transitions, including orientation and grade-level progression
●Oversee student discipline and attendance, ensuring fair and effective procedures
●Supervise student activities, events, and athletics, including off-site field trips
●Be an active and visible participant of the school community during hallways, transitions, cafeteria and recess
Operational & Administrative Duties:
●Assist in scheduling, staffing, and school operations, including emergency preparedness
●Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and school improvement plans
●Oversee testing coordination, substitute coverage, and crisis response efforts
●Collaboratively plan, facilitate and support faculty meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and staff development initiatives
Family & Community Engagement:
●Partner with families and community stakeholders to improve student learning
●Communicate regularly with families regarding school policies, student progress, and engagement opportunities
●Lead initiatives to improve family involvement in school activities
●Other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration
