Cytogenetics Director POSITION - CAN BE REMOTE - TENNESEE & DALLAS, TEXAS AREA

CYTOGENETIC DIRECTOR is responsible for overseeing the operations of a cytogenetics laboratory, ensuring accurate analysis and reporting of chromosomal abnormalities, and maintaining high standards of patient care. This role involves providing clinical consultation, managing laboratory personnel, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Consultation: Provide expert guidance to clinical laboratory staff and consulting physicians on cytogenetic findings to maximize quality patient care.
• Laboratory Operations: Oversee the processing of patient samples, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in rendering diagnoses and prognoses of acquired and inherited cytogenetic disorders.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance and improvement programs to maintain laboratory accreditation and compliance with internal and external proficiency testing standards.
• Assay Development: Assist in the validation and improvement of laboratory assays to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
• Staff Training and Competency: Develop and oversee training programs to ensure laboratory personnel maintain competency and stay updated with advancements in cytogenetics.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant field.
• Board Certification: ABMGG board certification in Cytogenetics is required.
• Licensure: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Tennessee State License as a Medical Laboratory Director in Cytogenetics.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in cancer cytogenetics; experience in molecular genetics is a plus.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
