What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Technician position at Staff Icons?
Responsibilities
- Run tissue processor to produce paraffin blocks. File paraffin blocks and slides.
- Embed pathology specimen to view all layers.
- Cut Pathology specimens on rotary microtome.
- Stain routine Hematoxylin Eosin to view tissue section, stain routine special stains (Client, AFB, Client) in order to identify organism or specific tissue elements.
- Enzyme histochemistry (leder esterase).
- Perform order entry and update on LISA to bill special stains.
- Label and sign out slides to assure accurate distribution of cases.
- Cover slipper (manual and automated) to ensure there is no water or air bubble under coverslip.
- Perform on all routine work, quality control to ensure high standard in the laboratory.
- Record equipment maintenance to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Prepare solutions to ensure correct histological processing.
- Process requests from pathology residents and attendings to ensure that work order is complete.
- Assist in Immunohistochemistry procedure to identify antigens.
- File paraffin blocks and slides.
- Perform other duties in the department as needed.
