- Minimum 1-year previous working experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Compassionate and caring demeanor
- Must have up to date certification in the state of SC
Developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Creating customized learning plans to meet the specific needs of each student.
Teaching Communication Skills: Using sign language, lip-reading, and other methods to help students develop communication skills.
Adapting Lessons: Modifying teaching materials and methods to ensure accessibility, such as using visual aids or assistive technology.
Collaborating with Other Educators: Working with general education teachers, speech therapists, and parents to support the child's overall learning and development.
Monitoring Progress: Tracking student progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed to help students succeed academically and socially.
Providing Support: Offering emotional and social support to help students build confidence and navigate challenges related to their hearing loss.
Advocating for Students: Ensuring students' needs are met and advocating for their rights in the educational environment.
