POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Software Engineer – BPM and Automation at Wellpointe will be critical in managing and optimizing business process applications, particularly using tools like Camunda. With rapid growth, this position focuses on designing and implementing scalable, efficient solutions across all Wellpointe departments.
This multifaceted full-stack engineering role involves planning, developing, redesigning, testing, and deploying new and existing business processes. The engineer will analyze business requirements, create automated workflows, integrate applications, and ensure thorough system documentation. They will also oversee database design, monitor performance, apply software updates, and explore new technologies to maintain optimal system performance.
A vital role component is ensuring seamless integration across Wellpointe’s systems while using Agile methodologies to design user-friendly interfaces that improve operational efficiency. The engineer will collaborate closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve application-related challenges, ensuring the systems are robust and responsive. Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, this position also involves close collaboration with the CEO and senior leadership, significantly influencing the company’s technical direction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and implementation of process flows, reports, integrations, and Web APIs using Business Process Management (BPM) tools like Camunda.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify use cases, gather requirements, and deliver tailored technical solutions.
- Customize user interfaces (UI) for process activities, allowing seamless interaction across multiple internal and external systems through a unified interface.
- Create and maintain solution architecture, process mapping, and UML workflow documentation, while developing and updating database queries and stored procedures based on technical and functional needs.
- Lead comprehensive systems testing to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Support and enhance existing processes by implementing a structured change control process.
- Oversee the migration of applications to production environments, adhering to Agile methodologies for efficient solution delivery.
- Develop interfaces between Wellpointe systems to optimize efficiency and automate workflows across operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on Java development and expertise in RESTful or SOAP web services.
- 5 years of experience with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), utilizing Agile methodologies.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork across diverse groups.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality outcomes.
- Familiarity with healthcare services is a plus but not a hard requirement.

DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Rest APIs, JSON, Webservices, ESBs/API Management and Microservices (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee, Make, Monday), SOAP, XML
- ETL and Relational Databases, such as MySQL, Postgres, etc.
- App Servers such as JBOSS, TOMCAT, etc.
