SHIFT : Days-10 hour shift 0630-1700 DESCRIPTION : 1. Assist the OR Circulating RN in preparing the room for the start of surgery. To include opening sterile packages, selecting appropriate equipment to be used for the case and making sure that all supplies that will be needed are available. 2. Set up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure. 3. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room. 4. Adhere to standards of safety and infection control in delivery of patient care. 5. Serve on committees as assigned. 6. Serve as a professional member of the Surgical Services team. 7. Assist with cleaning the surgical suite and related areas. 8. Provide necessary guidance and instruction to fellow co‑workers. 9. Check outdates and condition of supplies and equipment, assuring that stock is rotated that outdated supplies are replaced. 10. Improve the efficiency of surgeons and other professionals in the operating room. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS 1. Pursue own professional growth through continuing education and in-services. 2. May be required to assist transport of patients to surgery or to escort patients out of building upon discharge. 3. Attend meetings as assigned. 4. Assist with putting orders / supplies away in a timely manner. 5. Participate and occasionally instruct in-services for fellow employees. 6. Assist with orientation of new employees to the department. 7. Attend workshops as necessary. 8. May be required to work in the Sterile Processing Department when needed and perform the job role of the Sterile Processing Tech. (See sterile processing tech job description). 9. Perform other duties as assigned.
