Job Summary : We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Obstetrics Technician (OB Tech) to join our team in the labor and delivery unit. The OB Tech will play a vital role in assisting obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during labor, delivery, and post-delivery care. The OB Tech will help prepare and maintain the delivery room, assist with surgical procedures, and ensure the safety and comfort of both mothers and babies during childbirth. Key Responsibilities : Prepare the labor and delivery rooms by ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily available for use. Assist obstetricians and nurses during labor, delivery, and post-delivery procedures, including cesarean sections, episiotomies, and other childbirth-related interventions. Monitor and maintain the sterile field during delivery procedures, ensuring strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols. Provide assistance during the delivery process by passing instruments, providing surgical tools, and assisting in the positioning of the mother and newborn. Help with the preparation of surgical instruments and the cleaning and sterilization of equipment following procedures. Assist with newborn care immediately after birth, including suctioning, resuscitation, and ensuring the baby is properly handed off to the neonatal team. Support the obstetric team by anticipating needs during procedures and ensuring that all necessary items (e.g., sutures, sterile drapes, medications) are ready and within reach. Assist with the transfer of patients between rooms, including post-operative care for mothers following a cesarean section or other surgical procedures. Ensure that the labor and delivery suite is always maintained in a clean and organized manner. Monitor the status of supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or malfunctions to supervisors as needed. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation related to procedures, patient care, and medical records. Provide emotional support to patients when needed, offering reassurance and assistance during the labor and delivery process. Adhere to hospital or clinic policies, including those related to patient privacy (HIPAA) and safety standard.
