The role of the CJIS Background Verification Specialist is to manage duties related to our customers CJIS Personnel Security background screening process. The position requires being on site West Valley, UT office a minimum of 3 days per week. The position is intended to be customer-facing and will involve customer contact by email and phone.It is a fast paced detail oriented position that involves the customer credentialing process. Day to day the position will be part of the company's internal Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) team employees to enable company., employees to work as contractors for Criminal Justice Agency customers.
The incumbent will be exposed to employee personal information as part of the process. The information is sensitive and confidential PII that contains personal background information that may infer the existence of criminal background information.
The position will require timely and accurate data entry before and after the background screening approval process to account for and process the requirements throughout the submission to the customer and entering related data into various platforms.
The process will require initial and follow-up contacts with employees, Project Managers, Supervisor and customers and repeating the process at various intervals to gather and process information to support customer required FBI-CJIS background checks. It also includes communicating changes to the customers with ongoing reports of project staff working with customers.
This position requires record keeping and tracking information, understanding the operation of a Livescan machine or completion of paper fingerprint cards as a back-up along with the machines associated software to process fingerprint cards or electronic submissions to customers or state CJIS regulators.
The job requires excellent customer service and communication skills. Daily, the person in this role will be required to communicate with team co-workers and other employees to seek information, answer routine questions about the process and status. There will also be a requirement to review and analyze documents and information submitted by employees for accuracy and proper completion.
The position will include assisting customers and team members with related CJIS audits of project personnel. This will involve creating reports for co-workers or sending them independently to customers. This will also required data entry is up to date and accurate to ensure records for staff assigned to individual customers are up to date and accurate.
The position will require requesting/validating and securely storing photographic ID cards to verify applicant identification according to FBI/state standards.
The incumbent should be able to learn the process of roll/scan legible, clear and acceptable fingerprint impressions with a low error rate and ensure other related documents are properly completed.
The position requires strict protocols to ensure required paperwork associated with the process is distributed in the established workflow along with ensuring the credentialing information is complete, properly filed in a secure manner and logged in the appropriate tracking tools.
Daily tasks include: Performing all tasks in a timely manner. Maintaining daily employee profile set-up, record data entry of completed and outstanding documents in the CJIS Manager software and following up with employees/supervisors for outstanding tasks. It also requires producing shipping labels for courier shipping, assisting with packaging and shipping, entering associated expenses into MSI accounting systems, setting up training accounts for employees and notifying employees in a timely manner. Producing number count statistical reports.
The position may include:
- Assisting remote employees in locating options for processing fingerprints near their home locations and communicating how to route documents to the CJIS Program Office.
Work Environment:
- The incumbent will be required to maintain a professional office atmosphere, clean environment. Ensure the office area and credentialing documentation is secure at all times.
- Limited travel required - Estimate 3 days per year
- Combination of telework and in-office work schedule (hybrid work schedule 3 days in office required)

Intake Call Notes:
Assignment duration: This position is initially temporary for at least one year, with the potential for temp-to-hire. If hired the annual salary pay range will be : $45 to $50K - This has nothing to do with the contractor bill rate.
Job Type: Hybrid (At least 3 days in office) During training they will need to be in the office every day. Training is for 3 months.
