Job Overview:
Assist in areas of hatchery, brooding, house management, egg processing, egg pickup on farm, crew, maintenance and facilities as needed.
About Our Client:
Our client is a leading producer of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) eggs and laboratory products for biologics and vaccines development and manufacture. They supply critical inputs to manufacturers and offer diagnostic testing and manufacturing support services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and upkeep of company facilities and grounds, including mowing, trimming, pesticide and herbicide application, snow removal, light maintenance.
- Operating farm machinery such as skidsteer, tractor, forklift.
- Covering Poultry House Operator role: operating egg sanitizing machine, collection tables and conveyance systems; collecting, sanitizing, inspecting and eggs according to SOPs and/or special instruction.
- Assisting Recycle Crew and Maintenance departments as needed.
- Hatchery responsibilities: egg receiving, sorting, setting, and candling.
- Monitoring bird condition by observing feather cover, temperament, and body weights.
- Monitoring feed, water, light, and ventilation systems for production house.
- Euthanizing birds as required by management and removing dead birds.
- Performing environmental and health testing, blood sampling, cloacal swabs, fecal material sample collection.
- Accurately completing required recordkeeping documents/forms.
- Performing general housekeeping duties and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Disinfecting supplies, equipment, building entry lock system, and rooms according to SOP.
- Completing annual Fit Testing certification with N95, half, and full-face cartridge respirator mask.
Job Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Moving about the farm and inside production buildings, positioning self to perform tasks at various heights.
- Exposure to chemicals, dust, and odors, frequently working near moving mechanical parts.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds frequently.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and adjusting focus.
- Wearing protective clothing, gloves, hair net, various respirator types after passing a respirator fit test.
- Involves handling and humane euthanasia of chickens in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines, ensuring ethical treatment and compliance with protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
- 1-2 years related light maintenance or agricultural experience preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for specific education and experience listed above.
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated accuracy in record keeping.
- Able to work any day of the week.
