We are seeking a highly technical, innovative, and strategic leader to join our dynamic Series-backed SaaS startup as the Vice President of Software Engineering . This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and scaling a cutting-edge platform in the SaaS space with a heavy AI aspect. As a key member of our leadership team, you will drive high-level architecture, oversee infrastructure, mentor a talented team of engineers, and make strategic decisions to optimize costs and resources. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interface with investors and customers, and ensure our engineering efforts align with business objectives.

What You'll Do :

  • Architect and Scale : Define and oversee high-level architecture decisions, selecting the best patterns and technologies to build scalable, secure, and reliable software systems.
  • Team Leadership : Mentor, inspire, and lead a team of engineers, ensuring professional growth, collaboration, and excellence in execution.
  • Infrastructure Ownership : Manage and optimize infrastructure, leveraging cloud services (AWS or similar) to balance performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Strategic Budgeting : Develop and manage budgets for engineering operations, including cloud spend and team resourcing, while evaluating cost-benefit trade-offs.
  • Agile Excellence : Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, ensuring the team delivers high-quality features efficiently every sprint.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with Product, Revenue, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to translate business goals into technical solutions.
  • Customer and Investor Engagement : Serve as a technical representative when engaging with customers and investors, communicating the value of our engineering capabilities.

What You Bring :

  • Experience : 10 years in software engineering with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally Director or VP roles within series-backed startup environments.
  • Technical Depth : Expertise in full-stack development with technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, ReactJS, Angular (or similar frameworks), PostgresSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and cloud infrastructure like AWS. Also open to any opensource backgrounds.
  • Scalability Focus : Proven experience building and scaling high-traffic platforms, handling significant transaction volumes
  • Process-Oriented : Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI / CD pipelines, and automated QA processes to support seamless and reliable releases.
  • Strategic Mindset : Ability to make informed decisions about hiring, resourcing, and technology adoption based on long-term business value.
  • Leadership Skills : Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, build team culture, and drive accountability and innovation.
  • Customer Focus : Experience working directly with customers to gather requirements, solve challenges, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Communication : Excellent ability to articulate complex technical concepts to stakeholders, including investors and non-technical audiences.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with AI / LLM technologies and their integration into SaaS products.
  • Deep understanding of cloud cost optimization and strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Experience as a technical representative in investor or board meetings.
  • Proficiency in software security best practices to ensure robust systems.
