Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years in a professional accountancy role.
- At least two (2) years of accounting experience within an agency or firm managing annual expenditures exceeding $10 million, with state or federal reporting requirements.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited four-year institution.
- CPA or other professional designation preferred.

Staffing Solutions of Hawaii is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Controller to join a dynamic and growing team. This role requires a highly skilled financial professional with expertise in fund accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and leadership.
Job Description:
- Collaborate with the VP of Fiscal Services/Controller to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the Sage Intacct financial reporting system, including system implementations and upgrades.
- Provide leadership and direct supervision for accounting staff, ensuring training, mentorship, and operational efficiency. Act as a backup for the VP of Fiscal Services/Controller and other staff accountants as needed.
- Oversee the preparation of budgets and allocation schedules for assigned programs, ensuring financial compliance and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Review and approve accounts payable (AP) transaction reports, expenditures, and drawdowns to ensure alignment with financial documentation and contractual requirements.
- Manage month-end closing and financial reporting processes, including account analysis, reconciliation, and preparation of General Ledger adjusting entries.
- Prepare reports and schedules for annual audits, 401(k) audits, single audits, and 990 filings, while conducting internal financial reviews as required.
- Support fiscal monitoring activities and assist in compliance reviews by funders.
- Oversee payroll processes, including reviewing bank reconciliations and payroll-related reports. Serve as a backup as necessary.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of billing, fiscal reports, and ad hoc financial reports, working in close partnership with Program Directors and the Executive Leadership Team.
- Participate in performance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations.
- Assist with cost studies, special projects, and additional fiscal responsibilities as required.
- Serve as acting Fiscal Services leader in the absence of the VP of Fiscal Services/Controller, as directed by the President and CEO.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate teams in a collaborative environment.
- Extensive experience overseeing fund accounting and financial processes in large, automated systems.
- Ability to effectively manage complex deliverables, financial obligations of grants and contracts, and multiple ongoing priorities.
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with public and private agencies, community organizations, and executive leadership teams.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and uphold professional boundaries.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit and fund accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
