Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years of experience in government contracting or aerospace / defense industry.
In-depth knowledge of CAS, FAR, DFARS, TINA and other federal regulations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Skills :

Experience with public company financial reporting and preparation for IPOs.

Knowledge of government contract pricing, cost accounting, and financial reporting requirements.

Familiarity with DCAA audit processes and compliance.

Day to Day Responsibilities :

The Senior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for overseeing general accounting functions within the scope of the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS and Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA). This role will require close collaboration with both internal and external teams, ensuring compliance with both public company requirements and government contract regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

Manage general accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end / year-end closing processes.

Ensure compliance with CAS, FAR, DFARS, TINA and other relevant federal regulations for government contracts and proposals.

Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure compliance with public company standards, particularly around financial reporting and audits.

Prepare and review cost pools, billing rates, and indirect cost allocations in accordance with applicable regulations.

Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal management and external stakeholders.

Support the preparation for the company’s public offering, ensuring financial transparency and reporting in line with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements.

Collaborate with external auditors, provide documentation, and assist in the audit process.

Coordinate and communicate with various departments to ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenue recognition.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting standards, government contracting regulations, and industry trends.
