Staffmark is hiring a Grounds Supervisor in Austin, TX, for a leading funeral, cremation, and cemetery provider. This role is responsible for the care, maintenance, safety, and security of employees and visitors, while ensuring the grounds crew maintains the overall upkeep and appearance of the property.

Pay: $39,000 - $41,000 annually

The Grounds Supervisor will maintain a safe working environment by training the grounds crew on proper equipment use and ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA safety regulations. They will oversee the physical components of the memorialization process, ensuring that family wishes and company policies are followed, including site preparation for services. The supervisor will manage the grounds crew, ensuring adherence to dress codes and a professional appearance, and will document employee performance and disciplinary issues, providing recommendations to local management. They are responsible for maintaining inventory logs for equipment, supplies, and safety gear, and ensuring equipment is properly maintained. Additionally, the Grounds Supervisor is accountable for the overall care of the cemetery, including installing headstones, memorials, vaults, and overseeing groundskeeping tasks such as mulching, pruning, and chemical application. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of cemetery grounds experience
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable record
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual is a plus
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience operating maintenance equipment (e.g., backhoes, lawn equipment)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly (occasionally up to 100 lbs)
  • Tasks may require physical activity such as bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, chemicals, and/or bloodborne pathogens
  • Overtime may be required; up to 10% local travel during business hours
