GENERAL PURPOSE
The Healthcare Pathways Advisory Intern will support the Regional Healthcare Advisory Committee supported by the Claude Moore Scholars grant in advancing healthcare career pathways for high school students. This position will assist with research, data visualization, and marketing to enhance student engagement, workforce development efforts, and partnership engagement. The intern will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Research, Evaluation and Strategic Improvement and contribute to advisories’ initiatives aligning with the mission of Stafford County Public Schools to prepare students for future careers.
The internship is open to 2-year and 4-year college students who are pursuing studies in healthcare, public health, education, business, marketing, data science, or other related fields.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Data Analysis
- Conduct research on healthcare workforce trends, career pathways, and regional workforce needs.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends that support program initiatives.
- Assist in creating data visualizations, charts, and reports to inform stakeholders.
Marketing & Outreach
- Support marketing materials and outreach strategies to promote healthcare career pathways to students and educators.
- Support marketing materials and outreach strategies to stabilize and enhance partners supporting healthcare careers across VDOE Region 3.
- Create digital content and presentations to support program awareness.
- Assist in coordinating advisory meetings, community events, and stakeholder engagement.
Administrative & Program Support
- Contribute to reports, presentations, and content for program communications.
- Support logistics for advisory committee meetings and events.
- Collaborate with professionals in education, healthcare, and workforce development.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be a current college student enrolled with Germanna Community College, University of Mary Washington, or Rappahannock Community College, preferred
- Field of study in Healthcare, Public Health, Education, Business, Marketing, Data Science, or a related field, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge
- Principles of healthcare workforce development and education pathways.
- Basics of data analysis and visualization.
- Effective marketing and communication strategies.
- Skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Google Data Studio) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Abilities

- Organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is inside, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
- The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
