Performs professional work related to design, construction, inspection, and coordination of construction and renovation projects; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.
The hiring range for this position is from $31.92/hour to $43.89/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is from $31.92/hour to $55.86/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
- Provides oversight/direction on various construction projects; reviewing construction and renovation documents, plans and construction cost estimates; inspecting, monitoring and documenting construction projects; preparing and maintaining records and files;
- Coordinates construction oversight for various projects and departments;
- Reviews project data, plans, and cost estimates for construction and renovation projects; coordinates review with other departments;
- Inspects field construction and prepares reports on status of completion and work remaining;
- Coordinates work of consulting engineers and/or construction contractors;
- Reviews construction schedules and conditions; tracks project progress against the schedule;
- Attends project meetings;
- Prepares and maintains technical files;
- Reviews contractor’s execution of the work for compliance with plans and specifications;
- Monitors the work of constructions and renovation projects for compliance with project Quality Assurance/Quality Control requirements;
- Ensures contractor compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH), and County safety requirements;
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Basic knowledge of modern principles and practices of building construction;
- General knowledge of design, construction, maintenance, and cost estimating relating to public works facilities;
- Basic knowledge of site and existing building assessment;
- Basic knowledge of OSHA 29CFR1926;
- Ability to read and understand contract and technical construction documents;
- Ability to assist with the development of technical reports pertaining to construction projects;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, official consultants, contractors, and the general public;
- Ability to perform on night work schedules as needed.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in construction management, or related field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction or project engineering field.
Building Plan Reviewer certification, Building Inspector certification, or experience in the area is highly desired.
