- Candidates must have left employment of the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department since July 1, 2023.
- Candidates must have separated from the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department in good standing and be eligible for rehire.
- Candidates must have maintained necessary fire/EMS certifications and be compliant with the employment standards of the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department.
- Responds to emergency calls, suppresses fires, provides basic and advanced life support emergency medical services, handles hazardous materials, prepares and maintains detailed records;
- Responds to alarms and assists in the suppression of fires and in hazardous materials handling;
- Responds to emergency medical calls, drives equipment, and administers first aid;
- Participates in training and professional development;
- Conducts pre-fire planning activities and fire prevention inspections;
- Participates in community awareness and public education programs concerning fire prevention and public education;
- Maintains tools, apparatus, and equipment in ready condition;
- Assists volunteer companies in the inspection and maintenance of equipment, apparatus, and tools;
- Performs a variety of administrative tasks as assigned such as: data entry, preparing activity reports, and relaying information to volunteer companies;
- Attends training sessions to maintain current skills and to acquire new skills;
- Performs safety inspections and prepares pre-plan surveys;
- Provides CPR instruction to students;
- Performs inventory, orders, and stocks supplies on ambulances;
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency care, including diagnosis, proper treatment, and automobile extraction and transportation;
- Thorough knowledge of fire suppression methods and techniques;
- General knowledge of dangers and proper handling of hazardous materials;
- Thorough knowledge of the street system and geography of the County;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with associates, volunteer staff, and the general public;
- Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
