Job Description: I&E/Automation Technician (Contract to Perm)
Responsibilities:
- Installation and Troubleshooting:
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain plant and field instrumentation and equipment.
- Handle a variety of devices, including transmitters, valves, switches, sensors, pumps, motors, VFDs, switchgear, lighting, and transformers (including 240V and 480V AC systems).
- Experience with medium voltage systems is a plus.
- Hands-On Work:
- Expect to work in extreme outdoor conditions.
- Participate in rotational on-call duties, including weekends and after-hours.
- Safety Culture:
- Maintain and enhance a strong safety culture.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
- System Maintenance and Improvement:
- Enhance existing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems at our facilities.
- Assist in monitoring and implementing new installations.
- Cost Optimization and Process Control:
- Identify opportunities to improve operating costs and streamline facility processes.
- Optimize ease of control within the facility.
- Collaboration with Contractors:
- Oversee and collaborate with construction contractors.
- Ensure all work is done safely, efficiently, and up to electrical code and industry best practices.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate documentation related to maintenance, calibration, and procedures for I&E equipment.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with instruments, controls, and electrical systems.
- Preferred, a 2-year associate degree in electrical fundamentals and controls.
- Previous exposure to medium voltage systems is advantageous.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of instrumentation, control systems, safety systems, and electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and controls drawings (P&ID’s).
- Familiarity with Red Lions, PLC’s, DCS, and PanelView HMI systems.
- Proficiency in loading configurations for field applications.
- Knowledge:
- Understand principles related to flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement.
- Installation Skills:
- Capable of installing controls and electrical equipment, including wiring and pneumatic tubing.
