We are seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer for our client, a leading global security and aerospace company. In this role, you will design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
This is a 15-month contract (extensions likely), 40-hour-per-week (4-day 10-hour shifts per week) role, this is an on-site role at Orlando FL

Responsibilities
- Design arrangements of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
- Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- Inspection and test requirements may be incorporated into the production plan.
- Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
- Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Analyzing and interpreting electrical, electromechanical, and cable schematics during development and production stages.
- Updating and creating assembly work instructions for efficient assembly based on the drawings and/or models
- Identifies and maintains tool lists required for the efficient assembly of the given products.
- Investigates technical problems and provides guidance in support of manufacturing operators to facilitate assembly performance
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to manufacturing failures and helps implement corrective action which may include design change recommendations.
- Supports the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the manufacturing process.
- 2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment. Ideally, manufacturing cables or harnesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
