About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Household Manager & Family Assistant to support a busy mother of five children (ages 14, 13, 11, 6, and 5). This position is integral to ensuring a smoothly run household, enabling the mother to focus on work and quality time with her family. The role involves managing daily tasks, coordinating with additional household staff, and assisting with child care, errands, and household organization.
Responsibilities
Child Care
- Assist with daily routines for children, including meal preparation, and transportation to/from school/activities.
- Supervise younger children when the mother is working, attending personal appointments, or coaching older children.
- Help prepare the children for outings, sports, and special events.
- Be available for occasional evenings or weekends for date nights or other family needs.
Household Support
- Light housekeeping: vacuuming, wiping down counters, picking up after meals, emptying trash, and keeping the home tidy.
- Manage kitchen tasks: loading, running, and unloading the dishwasher.
- Assist with laundry: sorting, washing, folding, and putting away clothes.
- Organize and file household documents in the filing cabinet.
- Decorate for holidays, events, or parties and assist in cleanup afterward.
- Handle home improvement projects, light repairs, and special household tasks as directed.
- Supervise scheduled vendors, such as maintenance workers, cleaners, and repair services.
- Maintain outdoor spaces: wiping patio furniture, picking up pool toys, children clothing/towels.
Errands and Shopping
- Manage household supplies: track needs, shop for toiletries, cleaning supplies, and other essentials in person or online (e.g., Amazon orders). Parents to place orders
- Assist with grocery shopping or accept and organize grocery deliveries.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and store pickups as needed.
- Refill gas, schedule oil changes, and arrange maintenance for family vehicle.
Scheduling and Organization
- Plan and coordinate children’s extracurricular activities, playdates, and school-related events.
- Manage the family calendar, reschedule classes, and book appointments or events.
- Research and book family activities, vacations, or special outings.
Travel and Overnight Care
- Occasionally travel with the family for vacations or assist with child care while parents are away (2–3 times annually).
Ideal Candidate
- Reliable, organized, and proactive with excellent communication skills.
- Experience in household management and child care preferred.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and multitask effectively.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
