Job purpose
The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for managing various day-to-day accounting tasks, including processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, all while collaborating with other departments to support the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
- Data entry and record keeping: Accurately recording financial transactions into accounting software, including job related pay applications and general ledger entries.
- Credit card management: Overseeing the distribution and management of corporate credit cards; including verification of accurate expense allocation and monthly expense import.
- Bank reconciliations: Verifying bank statements against internal records to ensure accuracy.
- Financial reporting: The ability to prepare and analyze various financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting assistance: Supporting the budgeting process by tracking expenses against budget allocations.
- Account reconciliation: Reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
- Audit support: Assisting with internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation.
- Customer interaction: Answering inquiries related to invoices and payments.
- Vendor interaction: Processing credit approval for new vendors
- Cross-functional collaboration: Working with other departments such as sales, operations, and human resources to gather financial information and resolve accounting-related issues.
- Tax related: Monitoring and maintaining multi-state sales and use tax requirements and compliance.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business with emphasis in accounting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Well versed with generally accepted accounting principles and fundamentals of accounting
- Proficient in Excel and Word processing programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert interpersonal and customer service skills.
- The ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
