Role Description
The Audio-Visual Systems Consultant (SC) is responsible for driving new business and fostering long-term relationships by originating audio-visual (AV) opportunities, developing and qualifying leads, and delivering customized AV system solutions. In this role, you will actively pursue new business within a defined vertical market, work closely with our Business Development team for early-stage engagement, and manage the complete sales cycle—from prospecting and technical consulting to closing deals and ensuring client satisfaction during project delivery and post-installation support.
Primary system types include professional audio, video, digital signage, unified communications, collaborative tools, and remote-control systems.
Duties and responsibilities
Business Development & Opportunity Origination
- Actively research and identify potential clients (architects, engineers, corporate executives, department heads, commercial brokers, and contractors) within your target vertical.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to generate and qualify leads.
- Make regular cold calls and follow-ups to establish new relationships and create a robust opportunity pipeline.
- Qualify and prioritize leads based on Stage Front’s ideal client criteria, ensuring alignment with our high-quality AV solutions.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to refine strategies and target market segments effectively.
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and system narratives that highlight the value and ROI of our AV solutions.
- Negotiate and close deals by understanding client needs and aligning them with our technical capabilities.
Technical Consulting & Project Support
- Engage in detailed discussions with clients to understand their AV system requirements and identify pain points.
- Develop tailored solutions and proposals based on technical assessments, ensuring integration with the client’s existing infrastructure.
- Work closely with the engineering team to produce comprehensive system narratives, detailed estimates, and technical documentation.
- Participate in pre-construction and design meetings to ensure early inclusion of AV systems in project planning.
- Support the project manager during installation and commissioning, ensuring the client’s vision is realized.
- Provide training and follow-up support to ensure long-term client satisfaction and system performance.
Account Management & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, fostering long-term relationships and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
- Conduct regular check-ins and performance reviews with clients to gather feedback and identify opportunities for upselling or renewal.
- Maintain an accurate sales forecast with updated close dates and project statuses.
- Report on active opportunities, market trends, and competitive intelligence in regular sales meetings.
- Participate in team meetings to share best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor strategies to continuously refine your approach.
Qualifications
Candidates for the Systems Consultant position must meet the following minimum qualifications to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
- Must be able to deal effectively with people, identify different personalities, and communicate persuasively.
- Ability to deal with and interpret nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, blueprints, etc.)
- Must be an organized self-starter and have a willingness to follow processes. Strong ability to formulate plans and projections and effectively communicate those plans to others both internal and external is necessary.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area and circumference.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Must be able to read, analyze, interpret and report on general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before small groups and one-on-one to customers
- Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, managers and the general public. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
Working conditions
The Systems Consultant position requires working in an office environment with visits to customer locations. Customer locations will require travel and can be any type of facility including, but not limited to, professional office buildings, industrial facilities, outdoor venues, theaters, and education facilities.
The position requires communication with a broad range of clients, partners, and Stage Front staff. This communication varies from routine professional conversations to challenging discussions. The Systems Consultant must be prepared to handle all communication.
The Systems Consultant is expected to be available during normal business hours. Special situations will arise where the consultant is needed outside of normal operating hours. The consultant is expected to be available when needed.
Physical requirements
The Systems Consultant is required to be able to speak, hear, write, see, travel to customer locations, and operate in an office environment. The consultant may occasionally have to climb a ladder or use a lift to make inspections and filed measurements.
Compensation
Base pay uncapped commissions on sales.
