Description

Job Purpose:
Lead all facets of accounting operations, including establishing and maintaining robust internal controls and processes to safeguard all company assets. As a senior member of the Finance team, the Controller will play a key role in the development and execution of company strategies and objectives. This position requires the production of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP, as well as providing management with insightful financial reports to support executive decision-making. The Controller will promote a culture of quality customer service, continuous process improvements, and will manage all Human Resources functions in collaboration with the COO, including employee benefits plans, and time and attendance systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, corporate credit card transactions, and other processes, ensuring accuracy in high-volume transaction processing.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in strict adherence to GAAP.
  • Manage and oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, audits, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and automation of financial processes and accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and enforce internal controls to mitigate risks related to fraud, errors, and inefficiencies.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and complex financial analysis to support business growth.
  • Manage remote staff, including setting measurable objectives/goals, conducting regular performance appraisals, providing coaching, and ensuring ongoing training and development. Hire to match workload demands and optimize team performance.
  • Align staff to required workloads, develop efficiencies through teamwork and cross-training, and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Maintain strong employee morale and foster a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Create and present ad-hoc reports, including quality metrics, that drive strategic change and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications


Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years or more of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with GAAP, tax regulations, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to thrive in high-transaction volume environments and manage complex accounting systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving operational efficiencies, implementing automation, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain internal controls, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Previous success in managing teams, including experience with remote team leadership, performance management, and coaching.
  • Proven ability to handle significant responsibility and work autonomously while ensuring the success of accounting and financial operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software required.
