Job Summary
This position is crucial for the finishing process of metal truck bodies and parts in preparation for powder coating or paint.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Grind, sand, and scrape metal surfaces in preparation for coating.
- Pre-Coating Treatment: Wash, rinse, and caulk metal components to ensure optimal coating adhesion.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of products before sending them to the coating department.
- Tool Management: Maintain and utilize necessary tools, including air tools, hand tools, tape measures, glue, and tape.
- Safety and Housekeeping: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Flexibility: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, bend, reach, and move around the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Mandatory use of safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toed shoes.
Work Environment
- Plant environment with typical elements such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes.
- Conditions are manageable, with no extreme discomfort.
- Expect excessive heat during the summertime.
