Podiatrist

JOB SUMMARY:

The podiatrist manages the foot and ankle care of their patients at Blue Stone Health & Wellness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are all to be performed according to the National Standard of Care

1. Provide competent management of patient care
2. Examine, diagnose, and treat patients
3. Document carefully and accurately all patient encounter’s in the EHR
4. Order medications, treatments, etc. as needed
5. Order and interpret routine laboratory and other diagnostic tests and X-rays as needed
6. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients, parents, or guardians as applicable
7. Monitor patient’s condition and progress and re-evaluates treatment as necessary
8. Refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary
9. Provide counseling, education, and instructions to patients according to their needs
10. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in EHR
11. Provider charting should be completed within 24 hours from patient encounter
12. Medication Refills and all other physician tasks should be processed within 24 hours
13. It is the responsibility of the provider to take call for their own patients after hours. If provider will be out of town or unavailable, it is their responsibility to arrange coverage with another provider
14. Maintain patient confidentiality, following HIPAA regulations
15. Abide by Blue Stone Health & Wellness policies and procedures
16. Follow corporate compliance standards, carefully avoiding all forms of Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse
17. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and licensure:  DPM degree with valid and current license in the state of CA
• Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend instructions, complete short correspondence, and memos. 
• Mathematical Skills:  Ability to perform mathematical skills necessary for medication administration, and other skills as needed.
• Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Interpersonal skills:  Demonstrate high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, patient’s family,  and staff members in a professional manner.  The provider should be able to deal with unhappy patients or difficult situations, and always be professional and courteous.
