General Summary: Provides technical assistance in support of the quality systems to ensure product design/quality specifications are maintained. The job includes the programming and operation of FARO arm Digital Scanning equipment and calibration of gauges both variable and attribute, and any other equipment or duties deemed essential.
II. Essential Job Functions:
A. Reviews product prints and design specifications to develop programming for measuring equipment, such as a FARO arm, and Digital 3D scanning devices. Additional technology may be adopted as needed to meet measurement requirements and demands.
B. Performs dimensional layouts of component parts, finished goods, and tooling, utilizing such types of equipment as stated above.
C. Creates bubble maps to correlate inspection data in order to show results of inspection.
D. Maintains files and calibration records while performing gauge capability studies and documenting results.
E. Ensuring that product meets specified requirements, including raw material, work in progress and finished product.
F. Supports others as requested in support of quality control plans, verification and documentation, research and development and engineering.
G. Performs and/or participates in 5S housekeeping, team activities, follows all safety rules and all other applicable company policies and procedures.
H. Maintains the FARO arm and digital scanning equipment in working condition through basic cleaning and maintenance.
I. Performs other duties as requested by the Quality Manager.
III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
- Completion of high school and technical training that provided sufficient advanced math and computer skills with related technical exposure are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of Automotive Manufacturing experience or two (2) years technical training with CAD / Tooling emphasis is required.
Personal/Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of scanning & programming from PolyWorks.
- Experience with PolyWorks software is required.
- Ability to write, design and trouble shoot programs for FARO Arm equipment.
- Experience with thread gauges, hardness testing & height gauges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to keep good records are required.
- Ability to interpret advanced blueprints and technical specifications, part drawings, angularity, profile various datum’s (Vectors) and results from advanced inspection and measuring technique (FARO arm) per acceptance criteria.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and multitask is required.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures and equipment.
- Knowledge of inspection plans, first piece layout and first article inspection.
- Requires the ability to read and interpret geometrically dimensional tolerancing blueprints, ISO standards and related technical documents and use measuring equipment including calipers, measuring scales, gauge R & R and micrometers to compute percentages, area, circumference, and volume and draw and interpret bar graphs is required.
- Must have advanced math skills.
- Write visual work instructions and train operators and quality technicians on inspection equipment.
- Must have thorough knowledge of relevant sections of applicable quality system standards and associated documents such as PPAP, MSA, APQP and SPC manual.
Language Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
