This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. While specific shift details may vary, expect a structured schedule that ensures consistency in maintaining food safety and quality programs.
THE TYPE OF CANDIDATE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5 years of experience in QA or food safety in meat processing
- Strong knowledge of USDA regulations
- HACCP certification and food safety/handling certifications
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Experience with labeling software (Label Matrix or similar) and label approval programs (EZ Form or similar)
- Ability to work in cold environments and lift up to 50 pounds
A Bachelor's in Animal Science, Meat Science, or a related field is preferred.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY AS A QUALITY ASSURANCE AND FOOD SAFETY MANAGER
As a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager, you will oversee and execute quality and food safety programs across the plant. You will work closely with the Director of Operations, COO, Director of Food Safety, Technical Service Manager, and the corporate QA team to ensure compliance with USDA regulations. Your responsibilities will include leading HACCP programs, maintaining sanitation systems, and ensuring adherence to product and ingredient specifications. You will be the primary contact for third-party audits, ensuring that all documentation and quality control processes are up to date. Additionally, you will manage label approvals, coordinate with corporate teams on product information, and support new product launches. Your role will also involve training employees on food safety policies, troubleshooting quality issues, and maintaining raw material inspection programs.
