SUMMARY

Stampede Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation are currently seeking a qualified Archaeological Monitor for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System (PBRWS) in Santa Fe, New Mexico area. The Archaeological Monitor will provide cultural resource monitoring support and expertise in support of the PBRWS Project as well as working with local governments, including the State of New Mexico, tribal governments, neighborhoods, and communities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Archaeological Monitor will provide on-site cultural resource monitoring during all ground disturbing activities during the construction of the PBRWS.

  • Archaeological Monitor will assist in the identification of archaeological deposits; evaluate deposits using a standardized log form for recording results, observe historic architectural structures for possible impacts from ground disturbing activities; and ensure protocols are followed as outlined in monitoring plans.

  • Archaeological Monitor will provide daily reports of all monitoring activities.

  • Archaeological Monitor will perform all cultural resource monitoring in low risk to high-risk construction work areas and shall adhere to all Safety protocols.

  • Archaeological Monitor will work closely with all contractors during all ground disturbing activities.

  • Archaeological Monitor will adhere to all local government access permits.

  • Archaeological Monitor will ensure all reporting be performed in accordance with applicable guidelines.

  • Archaeological Monitor will be required to complete a OSHA Construction training course.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • An enrolled member of a New Mexico Pueblo / Tribe.

  • Experience working with tribal governments and cultural resource monitoring.

  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications and use of Windows and/or Mac computers.

  • Field experience in general monitoring and daily reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Must have experience in project management, monitoring, cultural resource investigations, pre-field surveys, mapping and agency consultation.

  • Must have job experience associated with cultural resource management and have the knowledge, skills, and training required to complete archaeological and architectural monitoring.

  • Must be able to perform the required duties of this position with little to no supervision.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Job is performed in the field and some office setting with exposure to computer usage. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind and being exposed to varying weather conditions requiring adjustments to manage both extreme heat and cold.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
