What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens?
The Senior Accountant is a full-time employee at Stan Hywet hired by the President & Executive Director upon the recommendation of the Controller. This position assists in the accounting for all financial assets and liabilities for Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and associated subsidiary companies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a professional attitude when working with the public, volunteer staff, guests and fellow employees.

3. Collaborate with other team members to develop and execute processes for sound financial management.
4. Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and associated subsidiary companies.
5. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
6. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
7. Completes monthly standard and non-standard journal entries and account reconciliations.
8. Manage the activity of the project’s accounts, providing financial statements as needed.
9. Must meet the month-end closing deadlines and assist in preparing a variety of financial statements.
10. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
11. Provide assistance during public events including, but not limited to, completing any treasury or financial tasks during public events.
12. Timely reconcile all banking/investment statements monthly and by established deadline.
13. Assist in maintaining timely and accurate retail purchase order and receipt processing, retail reporting and analysis of retail inventory and resolution of differences.
14. Maintain general ledger to properly reflect income, expense, assets, liabilities, and net assets of all companies including Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Inc., Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Foundation, and A.R.R.C.
15. Process and prepare the bi-weekly payroll journal entries timely. Backup processing payroll as needed.
16. Must be cross-trained for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to provide support and backup.
17. Reviews and signs off on AP invoice batches.
18. Prepare special schedules and analysis as requested/required.
19. Provide backup for the Controller and accounting staff members as needed.
20. Participate in required public events.
21. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

5. Some non-traditional hours required with the ability to work some evenings and weekends
Education and/or Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Advanced knowledge of Excel required.
2. Minimum of 5 years accounting experience. Non-profit experience preferred.
Salary : $65,000 - $67,000
