Position: Estimating Manager
The Estimating Manager manages the daily activities of the estimating department, implements technical estimating standards and procedures, and oversees the work of the estimating team. Employee will review and execute bids on multiple and/or more complex projects. This position is responsible for all aspects of the estimating and bid process, from review of plans and specifications, to soliciting quotes from the manufacturers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned estimating projects.
- Provide area specific forecasts and report projects status.
- Develop estimating standards, protocols, and guidelines.
- Manage estimating process from bid coordination, estimator assignments, training and bid submissions.
- Develop and maintain estimating training program to include current and future products.
- Perform as liaison between estimating team and sales team.
- Work with peers (sales, engineering, accounting, and upper management) to coordinate customer (internal and external) requirements.
- Revise estimates and implement required changes.
- Monitor and ensure bid format meets customer standards.
- Evaluate Customer Request for Bid documents.
- Identify and learn customer requirements for bid purposes.
- Coordinate bid inputs from all organizational departments.
- Participate pre and post bid meetings as required.
- Review, provide feedback and evaluate performance of Estimators.
- Responsible for the training and staffing of the estimating team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to conduct effective presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including outlook.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, with emphasis on mechanical plan.
- Proficiency in estimating software.
- Proficiency in required technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
- 5 years estimating experience required.
- 8 years construction experience preferred.
