Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead technical project activities including design validation tests, failure mode effects analysis, production validation tests, and interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Marketing, and Sales.
- Develops and proposes fuel system and component technical requirements, interfacing with global gasoline and diesel engine manufacturers.
- Lead the design and development of fuel system components meeting customer requirements and demonstrate compliance through rig and on-engine testing.
- Adapt current fuel injection equipment to customer's engines, through component design and selection meeting engine performance and emissions targets.
- Personally visits suppliers and occasionally customers in a leading role.
- Analyze test results, write technical reports and make recommendations related to all phases of engineering activity.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering and plant operations in the solution of complex production issues, including those that drive product and value improvements.
- Directs the activities of up to three subordinate engineering, and/or technical employees (functional supervision).
- Extensive customer and supplier contact with individuals at multiple engineering and management levels.
- Lead coordination of product development and application activities with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Sales, and Service and other plant support.
- Lead miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Provide technical mentoring to less senior engineers.
- Support multiple concurrent project of high complexity.
- Effective communicator both orally and in writing.
- Computer literate and familiar with MS Office applications.
- Strong experience in product development required.
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or other technical fields) with 10 years of experience
- MS degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience in related Engineering fields (desired)
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must have good product knowledge and a good understanding of Company systems.
- Coordinates technical project activities including design validation tests, failure mode effects analysis, production validation tests, and interface with manufacturing engineering, quality, marketing, and sales.
- Analyze test results, write technical reports and make recommendations related to all phases of engineering activity.
- Maintain Failure analysis and Corrective action database and provide resolution.
- Reliability software such as: Weibull / Minitab software, Relex, etc.
- Professional Certifications like ASQ – CRE is plus.

Special Qualifications – Advanced Engineering
- Strong Background in Analysis and Design, including GD&T and CREO.
- Detail understanding of Fuel Injection equipment.
- Detail understanding of Diesel and Gasoline engines.
- Strong interest in creating new concepts.
- Patents received.
- BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering or related technical degree required.
- Significant experience (minimum five years) in solving problems related to laser manufacturing processes, component processing, and manufacturing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO/TS requirements and APQP activities. Working understanding of quality processes and procedures.
- Demonstrate experience in designing and executing laser weld processes from development to production. Such experience would include equipment set up, tooling, weld process schedule development, equipment run off, and establishment of weld procedures.
- Strong knowledge of weld metallurgy of steels. Weld metallurgy of stainless steels, and hands-on metallurgy laboratory experience a plus.
- Keep abreast of new developments in laser welding and manufacturing engineering field through educational institutions, seminars, professional societies, organizations, and publications.
- Assist Engineering in testing, developing and evaluating welding equipment, processes and alloys.
- Experience solving weld manufacturing process issues in a high-volume environment is ideal. Must have excellent organizational skills and can effectively communicate process issues with a variety of customers within all levels of the organization.
- Skilled in production applications of lasers including, tooling/fixturing and laser system fabrication. or metal forming.
- Develop and maintain weld process schedules and production documentation.
- Hands-on experience in CNC programming, tooling and fixturing development, and troubleshooting of laserequipment.
- Strong manufacturing / process knowledge in metal working environment.
- Has cross-functional team participation, including Corporate Staff, other company facilities, as well as skilled labor groups.
- Experience with other advanced manufacturing / process technologies.
- Leading and participating in Continuous Improvement or New Product Development projects a plus.
