Senior Database Engineer

STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta and more, including internationally in Mexico, India and Japan.
We are seeking a Senior Database Infrastructure Engineer to provide engineering services and operational support for the enterprise's Database platforms. This role is responsible for building, deploying, documenting, and maintaining optimized, secure, and highly recoverable Database Management Systems across multiple environments.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle administration of DB2 Z/OS and DB2 LUW, with secondary expertise in SQL Server and Snowflake.
• Lead projects related to DB2 Z/OS and DB2 LUW platforms.
• Recommend, install, configure, monitor, and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based Database Management Systems.
• Enforce Data Governance policies, including database transaction and security audits.
• Provide Database Administration services to support IT and business projects, collaborating as a project team member.
• Troubleshoot, manage, and resolve incidents, problems, service requests, and change management issues for Database Management Systems.
• Participate in on-call and after-hours work as required.
• Design and implement highly recoverable Database Backup solutions for all enterprise databases.
• Monitor Database performance and optimize physical data storage for all supported systems.
• Review and analyze proposed Database Management Systems and contribute recommendations based on industry best practices, vendor interactions, and compliance needs.

Qualifications

• Expertise in DB2 Z/OS and DB2 LUW; knowledge of SQL Server and Snowflake is a bonus.
• Experience researching, recommending, and developing cost-effective database solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex database issues.
• Proficiency in SQL Server (on-premise and Azure), DB2 LUW (Windows, Linux), DB2 on z/OS, and Snowflake.
• Experience with Windows OS, Linux/Unix, and Z/OS (Mainframe).
• Knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, Cron scheduling, and JCL (Mainframe).
• Familiarity with BMC Mainview and related database management tools.
• Strong ability to prioritize and manage tasks in high-pressure environments.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years of experience in Database Management Systems administration or equivalent experience.

Additional Details
The base salary range for this position is $125K - $135K annually, depending on experience.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
