The Software Engineer 3 position entails performing highly advanced, senior-level programming work. This role serves as a leader to development teams, offering guidance, validating code designs, and ensuring alignment with system requirements. The ideal candidate will develop innovative software solutions, address complex technical challenges, and support the Texas Department of Agriculture's applications through robust programming and efficient processes.
Responsibilities
Lead and guide development teams in code design and validation.
Design, develop, test, debug, and document complex programs, including client / server and web-based applications using C# (.Net) , Blazor , and SQL .
Implement specialized programs to enhance front- and back-end web applications with HTML5 , CSS , SQL , Stored Procedures , Oracle , and SQL Server .
Collaborate with system analysts, architects, and business units to gather requirements and model solutions to meet functional needs.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve technical issues to ensure application reliability and security.
Research, analyze, and recommend improvements to software development processes.
Maintain application security by programming and implementing modifications to address information security and network integrity.
Develop and manage application documentation, release notes, and technical writing.
Present software demonstrations to customers to seek approval for proposed designs. Qualifications
Master's Degree (or higher) in a relevant field.
Experience using tools like Azure DevOps , Jira , or similar platforms (4 years).
8 years of experience in senior-level programming, analyzing systems workflows, and identifying process improvements.
Expertise in leading web application design and development.
Proficiency in programming languages : .NET / C# , HTML , JavaScript , CSS , SQL , Stored Procedures , Oracle , and SQL Server .
Experience in all phases of the SDLC and independently performing advanced SDLC tasks.
Leadership experience in managing SDLC projects from scope to deployment, including working with organizational change boards and release schedules.
Advanced knowledge of Agile SDLC methodologies and cross-team collaboration for software modifications and maintenance.
Experience in technical writing, preparing documentation, and conducting in-person software demonstrations. Preferred
Experience porting Java codebases to C# .NET Blazor .
Knowledge of responsive web design practices and implementation.
Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessibility best practices. Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $88 - $98 / per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
