Standard Casualty Company has an immediate opening for a Customer Service Representative/Claims Processor in our New Braunfels, Texas home office. We are a fast growing, yet stable specialized manufactured housing insurance company established in 1961 and based in New Braunfels, Texas since 1981.

Job Summary: The Customer Service Representative/Processor for Standard Casualty Company's Claims Department is responsible for assisting the customer in setting their initial claims and responding to follow-up requests as necessary. This position requires excellent communication skills both with co-workers and customers and requires the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Core Responsibilities/duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Process all incoming communications from insureds reporting new claims and enter claim data into the FileMaker system and respond to communications from insureds, contractors and other parties regarding questions on existing claims.
  • Enter data into claims software and route to appropriate adjuster, examiner or claims management.
  • Issue checks for claim payments and claims expenses and file closed claim folders.
  • Enter data for claims closed without payment into claims software and close and file claims folder.
  • Complete monthly expense reports along with year-end reports.
  • Upload weekly adjuster expense reports, review for accuracy and give to the Claims Manager.
  • Cross train within the department to continue workflow when other processors are out of the office.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Required skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel programs
  • Ability to handle a large volume of incoming customer calls on a daily basis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Limited Lines Insurance License (training available)

Work Environment and Physical Demands with reasonable accommodations:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery on a constant basis
  • Frequently required to communicate with co-workers and policy holders with the ability to exchange accurate information as necessary
  • Occasionally required to move about the office, ascend/descend stairs or a ladder or position self to maintain computers at workstation, including under the desk or other low areas
  • Occasionally required to move and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Position may require temporary remote work, after 90 days of employment, at management discretion and based on business needs. Employee must have Wi-Fi connectivity, a smart phone and a designated work area in their home.
