Job Title: IT Specialist / Generalist
Job Overview:
Standard Energy is a small oil and gas company located in Lubbock, TX. We are looking for an adaptable and proactive IT Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our IT infrastructure, solving technical issues, and supporting business operations. As a key member of a small team, you will also be involved in a variety of tasks that extend beyond traditional IT support, including office management and project assistance. The ideal candidate will wear multiple hats, be resourceful, and have a can-do attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Support & Management:
- Provide technical support for employees’ hardware, software, and network issues.
- Manage company servers, network infrastructure, and cloud-based tools (e.g., email, collaboration platforms).
- Set up and maintain workstations, devices, and printers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems promptly and efficiently.
Systems & Network Maintenance:
- Perform regular system backups, software updates, and security patches.
- Maintain and monitor network security (e.g., firewalls, filter).
- Assist in configuring and maintaining remote work setups (Citrix, SharePoint etc.).
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with non-IT staff to understand business needs and offer technology solutions.
- Assist with software selection, implementation, and training.
- Provide guidance and support for using existing software and tools.
Office Management & Operations Support:
- Oversee the ordering and inventory of office equipment and supplies.
- Assist with the coordination of office moves and physical setups.
- Manage vendor relationships for office-related services (e.g., internet, phone systems, printer maintenance).
Project Assistance:
- Assist with non-IT projects that may require technical expertise, such as process improvements, automation or system design.
- Support billing, field management or HR departments with technology-related tasks as needed.
Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Implement basic cybersecurity practices (password management, encryption, etc.).
- Protect private information gained through online communications; SSL, E2EE, APIs
Training & Documentation:
- Develop and deliver training to employees on IT tools and best practices.
- Maintain clear documentation of IT processes, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2-4 years of experience in IT support, administration, or a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking basics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint and popular operating systems (Windows, Server 2016, Linux Debian).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Experience with cloud-based tools and SaaS applications.
- Basic knowledge of network security practices (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, antivirus software).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a small-team environment; flexibility and adaptability are key.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with office management, inventory systems, or project coordination.
- Familiarity with basic website maintenance (e.g., HTML, WordPress, Squarespace).
- Experience with Open Invoice, GEP, Ariba, Samsara and Iron Site.
- Knowledge of scripting languages or automation tools is a plus.
- Experience with small-business IT infrastructure and cloud services (e.g., Database, OneDrive, Microsoft Azure).
- Any certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, on-site position with private office.
- Occasional overtime or after-hours support for urgent IT issues may be required.
- You’ll be part of a close-knit team, so your role will evolve with the needs of the business.

Pay: $53,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
