Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Linehaul Supervisor to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our linehaul transportation network. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising a team of drivers and support staff, ensuring timely and efficient movement of freight across the designated routes. Your leadership will be key in maintaining high safety standards, optimizing routes, and improving operational performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics operations, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Dynamically evaluate and monitor tonnage levels by service center and ensure adequate power is positioned to move the freight
- Insure proper hand-off and execution of assigned plans or loads
- Analyze available equipment, drivers and loads
- Estimate loads and trip times
- Plan most efficient routes using all available resources maximizing truck utilization and minimizing empty and out-of-route miles
- Establish truck schedules as necessary
- Evaluate the operation to promote cost-efficient service and make recommendations for improvements
- Monitor current equipment location and status
- Advise Area Managers, Customer Service Representatives, and/or Service Center Managers of delays or issues with linehaul schedules
- Monitor all rail activity to ensure timely movement
- Monitor and handle any issues, or coordinate with OS&D as needed
- Interact with customers and troubleshoot problems to obtain final resolution as needed
- Respond quickly and efficiently to changes in drivers, road conditions, or load needs and assist service centers in re-powering loads and drivers when necessary
- Effectively and directly supervise linehaul drivers
- Resolve any driver's issues or concerns as appropriate
- Recommend specific disciplinary action for performance or disciplinary problems to Linehaul Manager
- Work with drivers to ensure special requests are completed
- Responsible to accomplish other duties that may be assigned on an ad hoc or permanent basis in conjunction with or in addition to these current responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- 5 years of Driver Supervisor experience in the transportation industry
- Preferred 2 years' experience with LTL freight operations
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Ability to work any shift any or all day of the week
