Terminal Supervisor

Standard Forwarding Freight operates in the LTL transportation industry dedicated to delivering excellence in every shipment. We are seeking a dedicated and customer focused supervisor to join our team and help lead our terminal operations.

Job Overview:

The supervisor will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the terminal, ensuring the efficient and effective handling and processing of freight. The successful candidate will have experience in LTL operations, strong organizational skills, the capacity to multi-task, the ability to learn and lead in a fast-paced environment and maintain a focus and commitment to excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

· Operational Oversight

o Assist in managing inbound and/or outbound freight operations, including dock, office, city and linehaul operations.

o Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies.

o Coordinate with the Terminal Manager to hit key terminal metrics and optimize terminal workflow.

· Team Management

o Supervise terminal staff, including dock workers and drivers to ensure efficient and safe terminal operations.

o Provide training, guidance, and support to team members as necessary.

o Conduct regular performance evaluations of employees and provide feedback.

· Customer service

o Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly, and with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.

o Ensure professional, polite, timely and accurate communication with internal and external customers, in all interactions.

o Work closely with the sales team to support customer needs and expectations.

· Operational Efficiency

o Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as dock bills per hour, city bills per hour, service calculations, and cost per bill.

o Identify areas of improvement and work with the terminal manager to implement process enhancements.

o Assist in managing terminal budgets and controlling expenses.

· Compliance and Safety

o Ensure all operations comply with federal, state and local regulations.

o Maintain a culture of safety and a safe working environment by promoting and enforcing all company safety standards and safe operating procedures.

o Conduct regular safety audits, as well as regular safety training sessions.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the LTL terminal operations

· Strong understanding of LTL freight operations, including inbound/outbound, routing, and transportation/DOT regulations.

· Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and cover various shifts as needed.

· Proficient in using basic LTL software, and Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
