He/she will be responsible for training drivers on equipment functions and the safe operations of equipment. This includes managing the fleet lifecycle program; reviews status of vehicles and equipment; recommends equipment replacement and major repair options; prioritizes purchases and evaluates bids, ensures that the revenue and operating income (OI) performance goals are met.
The Fleet Asset & Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for negotiating with suppliers and partnering with key vendors to ensure safe and efficient operations. This includes having a strategic and tactical approach to equipment inventory controls, purchasing, leasing or rentals. The position is also responsible for maintaining detailed records of vehicle services, inspections and maintaining service schedules to ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties
- Managing relationships with large leasing companies/providers
- Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection
- Maintaining compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation laws and regulations.
- Filing UCR annual registration
- Filing annual MCS-150 with the U.S. Department of Transportation
- Managing IFTA regulatory compliance
- Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
- Develop, actively manage and report fleet equipment key performance indicators (KPI’s)
- Analyzing data to increase operational efficiency and drive OI.
- Utilizing GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft.
- Purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
- Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed
- Manage vehicle licensing and registration
- Work with the Safety and Operational Teams to ensure sufficient training resources for new equipment acquisitions
- Assists in budget process for new equipment and maintenance related expenses.
- Conducts RFP’s for new equipment and explores the feasibility of acquiring high quality used equipment.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
- Maintain an on-going preventive maintenance program for assigned locations. Identify trends in road calls, break downs; oversee maintenance of the building and other facilities on site; control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs.
- Manage outside repair facilities and repairs to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with the Company’s safety and compliance procedures, and federal and state regulations; follow up where appropriate. Identify training opportunities and, as necessary, document issues and constructively discuss corrective action, as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics or Engineering Preferred and
- 5 years of Leadership Management experience in Truck Fleet Operations, Transportation of Supply Chain Operations, or related industry Required
- Vehicle and heavy equipment fleet operations management techniques and current business practices for efficient delivery of maintenance services for vehicles and equipment.
- Theory, principles and practices of vehicle fleet cost control and preventive maintenance programs.
- State and Federal statutes, rules and regulations and County codes governing procurement.
- Principles and practices of public sector purchasing and records management.
- Principles of administrative management, including personnel rules, strategic planning, budgeting and effective employee supervision.
- Contract management principles, tools and techniques.
- Federal and state safety laws and regulations, including drug and alcohol testing guidelines for CDL.
- Methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Analyzing fleet management problems, evaluating alternatives, and recommending methods, procedures and techniques for resolution of issues.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, and ability to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely
